Raavanan - A movie with most expectations and hype...Starring - Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Prithviraj, Prabhu, Karthik and Priya Mani
Direction – Mani Ratnam
Our director Mani has taken the crux of epic Ramayana, where the lady (Sita) gets kidnapped by Raavanan and later rescued by Lord Rama. Other than this, there is no significance to the epic.
Should appreciate Mani for the guts he has shown to take this story line and project Raavanan as the real HERO.

Veeraiya (Vikram) calls himself as the 10 headed Raavanan and kidnaps Ragini (Aishwarya) as revenge towards the death of his sister Vennila (Priya Mani), as a result of police custodial and brutal rape.
Dev (Prithviraj), a police man and the husband of Ragini comes in rescue of her but with an ultimatum to destroy Veeraiya
The story flows almost like water in the 1st half with Mother Nature’s beauty. We can sure feel the changing emotions of Veeraiya and Ragini.
Vikram was simply the best as Veeraiya and I loved when he said “Usuru vandhudhu” expression in the climax. Also, “Naan varuvaen, thirumba varuvaen” keeps drumming in my head…
Prithvi has done his role perfectly and he has brought the hatred out in a perfect composition.
Aish has played her role to the fullest understanding every nuance of the screenplay. I liked her, the best when she says “buck buck buck” in the climax. But, somehow in the 1st half I feel that Mani as well as our Camera Man is glued to Aish…

I somehow feel that Priya Mani was under used and he only is being used for Brutal rape stories.

Music is a melody. Until, I saw the movie I only like Usurae Pogudhu (Brilliantly sung by Karthik) but after watching the movie, I almost like all the songs.
This is a typical Mani’s movie which I end up liking over time.
